Hey there! Thank you for stopping by! Hope you’ll like it here.

A Special Kind (ASK) was birthed at the height of the pandemic which saw the world being on lockdown for two years. During that time, I saw a continuous stream of articles published by parents, both new and seasoned, stating that they’d lost friends once they became parents. Whether it was due to them not having the time they once had or simply being excluded because of their new responsibilities, I was shocked to see how often this was occurring.

I could relate. I’ve been excluded myself. Not only for being a new mom but also as a mom of a child with special needs. My youngest son was diagnosed with severe autism at the age of two, though we know before then. He stims, he’s loud, and can’t stay still for more than 3 seconds; things some people can’t deal with. It gets lonely here sometimes and so I thought of all the other parents who may be going through the same thing.

The aim of this blog is to form a community for those parents. To create a safe space to share, vent, ask questions, give advice and recognize they are not alone. I will be sharing my journey here and I hope you will too. So get comfy and stay a while!
